Art and creativity
Why should we bother to be creative or original, when it is so neglected by our very own human race? It’s true, I must admit, that from all our known species, we can consider ourselves the most creative.
Other species it seems are more preoccupied in surviving then letting their senses guide them.
Why should they be concerned about matters, which don’t serve any substantial purpose? Which leads us to an other thought…?
Why should we dwell on things our primal cousins have chosen to ignore up to now?

Originality serves no useful, practical, economical or technical purpose .It appears to only further complicate matters.
But before we go any further we need to make a few distinctions clear: Creativity, originality, innovation and invention can be applied in absolutely every field and all those notions draw their source in our minds, more importantly in our ability to digress the laws of conventionality.
Here we will try to approach the idea as a notion tied to evolution so as to avoid all misconception.
For many a generation people have drifted away trading their thoughts, and talents for normalisation; be different ad you will be cast away, alienated slowly becoming anomic in the eyes of society. Your only chance will be to surrender to mind numbing medias, blunting your individuality and conceding your soul to normality.
It’s all around you and you know…But you have better things to do with your lives.
Like 60% of the population you have to work to support yourself or your family.
Or like the rest you’re either part or the next generation in some sort of educational programme or you’re just too lazy to think.
No time to think then... “The world is turning without you “ they say, your mission is to keep up with the rhythm: Like as if on a slave-chip, you can hear the drumming of the big white man, black man, yellow man or which ever way you characterise your superiors.
But the world revolves around the sun; Revolving around creation to evolve, and if you’re still part of that slave ship you will not move forward (or you might, but not in a way that glorifies our existence).Your life will be meaningless, your future might pay luxuries but at the end of it all satisfaction will never be a reality.
Then again that faith awaits us all, but we have I believe the power to channel that energy into creation (Have kids, it will change your life). And that never ending path will drive you to better things.
Not wanting to sound like a preacher so I’ll continue with some thoughts...
Many things drive creativity and innovation some are good others, well are less glorifying.
The reason dates back to the pre-historic age, and has followed us throughout the ages; Chance drove the prehistoric being to discover fire. Then necessity forced him to understand what created the phenomenon, otherwise him and people would have perished or not have been able to consume certain foods.
Then the desire to dominate pushed him to use the power of fire to light the way through the night in quest of new territories, and fight off foes with his superior knowledge of the phenomenon.
Then social gratification forced others to steal the idea to get recognised by his tribe. He then had to innovate on the concept so as to fend his tribe better against animal or being. And so it continued…Then in parallel creativity was also used in a totally different way.
In the name of art, music, literature; from the prehistoric drawings to the bible, to the early scribes our imaginations and cunning were used for other purposes: The promotion of thought, knowledge and ideas.
Of course many other factors intervened but in all most creations were made with a subject in mind. Whether it might be for a god, a ruler, love or just artists need to calm his desires…
Either way, art and creation have always been at the centre of evolution, good and bad; its sources and roles are many but what’s important in the end, is to be part of it.
